Studying Child Psychology is a concise # highly readable introduction to child development. Written by a team of authors with many years' experience of teaching & examining in Psychology & Health Studies, the emphasis is on making the subject accessible & on explaining the jargon for those with a more general interest as well as serious students. After considering how children develop thinking & intelligence, the authors examine the development of language & communication; the growth of attachment & maternal deprivation; the behaviourist & social learning theories of development; Freud's ideas on child behaviour; sex differences in behaviour; the development & expression of aggression; the types & purposes of play; school as a social & cultural environment; discovery learning versus programmed learning; the nature/nurture debate on intelligence & perception; & finally, testing the theories - different practical techniques of investigating children's behaviour. This book is based on the Southern Examining Group's Psychology (Child Development) GCSE syllabus but it is also suitable for many others courses - Health Studies, Child Care, Nursery Nursing & others. All the authors teach, in 1990, Psychology or Health Studies at South Trafford College. Malcolm Hardy & Steve Heyes are the authors of the very successful text Beginning Psychology (now in its third edition) & co-authors, with Paul Rookes & Paul Humphreys, of Starting Statistics. Kevin Wren is an expert on children with learning difficulties. All the authors are experienced examiners in GCSE & A-Level Psychology. 1990 book is showing the yellowing around the pages, otherwise in great condition. 242 pages, 14x22 cm 💜
